My name is Lizzie Swalley. I am an enrolled member of Isanti Dakota Nation. My father, Charles LaPlante was member Isanti oyate and my mother, Clarissa LaPlante( Phillips) is a member of umonhon nation. I grew up in the Isanti Dakota reservation, graduate high school from the Isanti community school. I graduated with my bachelor's in middle school education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I obtained my Masters degree in Historical studies with an emphasis in Native Studies from Nebraska Wesleyan University-Lincoln. I taught at Santee Community school for 10 years. I am excited to be back in the classroom with students learning our Dakota language!
